The price of a tracker installation is only part of the ownership decision. Before choosing security for a supercar, establish what you pay today, what keeps the service active and what happens when your circumstances change. A clear quotation should make those points easy to compare.
For example, an owner planning to keep a weekend car for many years may weigh a prepaid option differently from someone changing vehicles regularly. Neither should choose from the initial fitting price alone. Compare the complete arrangement you are actually being offered.
Separate equipment, fitting and ongoing service
Ask for the exact product name, the installation price and the service charge as separate items, even where they are sold together. Establish whether initial monitoring is included and when any renewal begins. Request a written breakdown of optional features rather than assuming the display price includes them.
Use the same time period when comparing quotations. A monthly figure and an annual figure are difficult to compare if they cover different services or contract terms. If VAT, activation or an accessory charge applies, it belongs in the comparison too.
Understand the subscription choices
SmarTrack publishes annual, multi-year, duration-of-ownership and direct-debit options across parts of its range. The available plans and charges depend on the exact device. Its subscription page also distinguishes some direct-debit options with warranty cover. Check the current provider schedule and your specific quotation before deciding.
A product label such as “S5 Plus” does not, on its own, tell you the payment term or every feature being activated. Ask which plan is being supplied, who takes payment and how you receive confirmation. We link to our featured SmarTrack options so you can begin with a specific product.
Ask what happens at renewal
Make a note of the renewal date, the account email address and the provider’s contact details. Check how renewal notices are sent and what action you need to take. If someone else in the household handles payments, ensure the account holder understands the security service involved.
Review your plan when you change phone numbers or email accounts. An accurate account record makes it easier to manage a renewal or ask about an unexpected charge. Keep confirmations with the car’s ownership documents, with sensitive access details stored separately.
Check the terms before selling or changing cars
Duration of ownership is a defined service term, not a promise that one payment follows you through every vehicle you ever own. Global Telemetrics’ terms address subscriptions, disposal of the vehicle and equipment moved to another car. Ask for the rules that apply to your exact order, including administration, transfer or refitting charges.
If you buy a car with a device already installed, confirm whether the provider can reactivate or transfer the service and what that costs. Read our used-supercar handover checklist before accepting a seller’s login or relying on an old certificate.
Match the service to your insurance requirement
Thatcham lists S5 and S7 as separate certification categories and states that certification does not guarantee insurer recognition. Send your insurer the exact proposed equipment and service details, and obtain their acceptance of the arrangement. Avoid assuming a more expensive plan automatically meets a particular policy.
Keep the written requirement beside your quotation. Where the wording is unclear, resolve it with the insurer before purchase. The installer can explain the system being supplied; the insurer determines the terms of your cover.
Your quotation checklist
- Exact device and activated features.
- Fitted price and any initial subscription included.
- Payment term, renewal process and current recurring charge.
- Applicable warranty, support and account arrangements.
- Terms for sale, ownership change or refitting.
- Confirmation that the proposed setup is accepted for your policy.
Share your vehicle details and requirements through our enquiry form or WhatsApp. We can discuss fitted options without guessing how long you will own the car or what your insurer will accept.
Questions owners ask
Is monitoring always included in the installation price?
Do not assume so. Ask what the fitted quotation includes, when the subscription starts and which renewal charges apply.
Does duration of ownership cover my next vehicle?
Check the specific provider and order terms. Do not assume a duration-of-ownership subscription transfers to a different vehicle.
